What MIDI browser works with my controller?
Capsule is a browser with MIDI built in. Plug in your gear — Hercules, CDJ, Denon, Pioneer, Numark, Native Instruments, Roland, Reloop, Rane — and with Nightclub PRO it detects the controller, learns buttons with MIDI Learn, reconnects if the cable drops with MIDI Guard, and drives the LEDs. The whole thing fits in about 15 MB on a USB stick, with no install. It is not a Traktor skin and not a Serato clone; it is your browser talking to your hardware.
Why Capsule speaks MIDI like a musician’s tool
Plug in and Capsule sees the device
You bring the controller. The house PC does not know your mapping. Launch Capsule from the stick with no admin, open Settings > Audio and run Rescan if the desk was off. USB auto-detect handles the device, MIDI Learn covers the odd button and LEDs talk back. More than fifty mappings span Pioneer, Denon, Hercules, Numark, Native Instruments, Roland, Reloop and Rane — that is booth coverage, not a fake Capsule hardware brand. Traktor stays Traktor on its own page, decks live on the DJ-browser guide, and this page stays about MIDI.
A kicked cable? MIDI Guard reconnects
Festival power, cheap USB hubs and the occasional kicked cable all drop MIDI. MIDI Guard reconnects without a full restart. A Chrome tab with Web MIDI is not that at 2 a.m. Nightclub PRO’s bridge is native; for low-latency audio (ASIO), the ASIO-browser and pro-audio pages carry the setup. Sample rate stays 44.1 or 48 kHz behind the sound card. MIDI is the control surface — faders, pads, sync.
Learn once and carry the map on the stick
Capsule is a folder, which means your MIDI map travels with it. After a Learn that works, clone the stick. Mixxx files and VirtualDJ macros do not import by magic, and the respective alternative pages explain why — keep those apps at home when you need them. Capsule maps hardware and does not steal the skin. Mixing works offline like classic DJ software (local files), Icecast still needs a network and the PRO licence has a seven-day offline grace.
Beyond “open this URL in Edge”
Some browsers can see MIDI inside a tab. In a booth you want short latency, exclusive audio and a session lock (PIN or Windows Hello) on a borrowed PC. That is why Capsule exists as a browser with MIDI rather than as a link you open inside Edge. The download delivers about 15 MB, with nothing to install on the house PC.
How to connect your controller to Capsule
- Download Capsule and copy it to the stick. Plug in Hercules, a CDJ, a Denon or your controller, then open Settings > Audio, run Rescan and start MIDI Learn. Clone the stick once it feels right.
- Keep Traktor or Serato at home if that is your main software. Capsule is the browser that launches on a stranger’s PC with your USB gear.
- For low-latency audio, see the ASIO-browser guide; for DJ sets, the DJ-browser guide; the pro-audio page covers the full setup.
- The Capsule home page summarises the product in one line.
FAQ
Is Capsule a browser with MIDI?
Yes. With Nightclub PRO: auto-detect, MIDI Learn, Guard, LEDs, 50+ mappings (Hercules, CDJ / Pioneer, Denon, and more). /pro-audio.
Will it load my Traktor or Mixxx mapping file?
No. This is not those apps. Use MIDI Learn in Capsule, or keep the dedicated software at home.
Does MIDI work without club internet?
Yes. Local files, ASIO, MIDI, DVS, and recording need no venue Wi‑Fi. Icecast needs a network. PRO grace: 7 days offline.
Is this a cloned Kontrol skin?
No. Native Instruments layouts stay theirs. Capsule maps your controller. /news/alternative-to-traktor.
How do I check size and latency?
Weigh the Capsule folder (about 15 MB; Demucs extra). Launch with no admin. Audio: Settings > Audio, buffer 128 at 48 kHz ≈ 2.7 ms. Chrome stays on Web Audio at 50–100 ms on /pro-audio. Komby Limited.
Do I still need Dashlane or 1Password?
Not for the local vault: Komby Vault is built in (import Dashlane, 1Password, Bitwarden, Chrome, Firefox). Free Shield VPN in Capsule. Nightclub audio is a separate PRO licence. /download.
Does the UI really move, or is that marketing?
Check the dock: changelog 3.7 (motion, magnifying dock, Stage Manager), 3.8 (instant tabs), 3.12 (snappier start). Chrome/Firefox do not ship that dock. /download.
Is Capsule the first portable browser in the world?
No — wrapped portables exist. Capsule’s claim is the world’s first native portable browser: designed as a folder by Komby Limited, with PIN + Windows Hello lock. /download.
